5 Ways to Improve Your Gas Mileage in Wall

Whether you’re running errands around Trenton or you’re just heading home in Wall, these tips on how to improve gas mileage are universal:

  1. Softly Accelerate: Press your gas pedal gently. The harder and more fiercely you press, the more fuel you use. If you accelerate smoothly and take five seconds to bring your vehicle towards a higher speed, you’ll use less gas.
  2. Always Plan Ahead For Traffic: If you’re dealing with traffic in your day-to-day driving, there’s going to be a lot of fuel waste in general. It’ll also put stress on your car’s drivetrain. Always be geared for whatever the roadways you take and keep an eye on traffic reports over the radio or your phone in case you need to take an alternate route.
  3. Avoid Speeding For No Reason: When you’re speeding places, you’re going to use more fuel in general. To achieve the best possible fuel economy, it’s best you keep closer to the speed limits on the roads you travel. For example, keep between 55 and 65 mph. Just make sure that’s the speed limit!
  4. Try Coasting to a Stop: Instead of applying your brakes repeatedly, it’s best you look at the road ahead. If there’s no one ahead, try coasting to your final stop. What about if you’re driving on hills? Well we’ll tell you. Reduce your speed as you venture uphill, when you’re going downwards, you can use the vehicle’s forward momentum to coast downhill.
  5. Use AC at Highway Speed: Yes, a vehicle’s air conditioning will utilize gas when you’re running. If you’re driving around town and it’s a milder day, don’t use it as much. In contrast, using your car’s AC on the highway can be more efficient.
